Network Sensor for Azure Deployment Guide

The Rapid7 Network Sensor (Insight Network Sensor) can monitor traffic from your Azure virtual machines by using an Azure Virtual Network Tap (vTAP) to mirror traffic to the sensor host.

This guide describes how to provision a Network Sensor host in Azure and configure the vTAP to provide traffic to the sensor. It assumes that you already have existing infrastructure to be monitored, and that the infrastructure is in a region where the vTAP is supported .

Your Azure deployment will consist of the following steps:

StepContent
Configure a Network Sensor Host in AzureDeploy a virtual machine that meets the host requirements and attach a second network interface to act as the vTAP destination.
Enable Virtual Network PeeringPeer the virtual networks so the vTAP can send traffic to the sensor. Only required if the sensor host and the traffic sources are in different virtual networks.
Configure the Azure vTAPCreate the vTAP, select the destination resource and the traffic sources to be monitored, and confirm that traffic is reaching the sensor host.
