Migration FAQ
What do I gain from migrating to InsightAppSec?
Though InsightAppSec uses the same scan engine as AppSpider, InsightAppSec offers more functionality, enhanced reporting options, numerous integrations, and the capabilities of the Insight Cloud. The Rapid7 Insight Cloud is a centralized hub for monitoring and visualizing your application security. We are committed to growing the capabilities of InsightAppSec while leveraging the shared Insight Cloud features.
If you are already a customer of InsightVM, you can benefit from shared reporting between InsightAppSec and InsightVM.
If you think you could also benefit from a RASP tool, talk to your Customer Success Advisor about the Total Risk Coverage offering.
What is the security of the Insight Platform?
We have a great document that covers the specifics of the Insight platform as a whole. More information regarding our security controls can be found on our trust website .
What does upgrading from AppSpider to InsightAppSec mean from a legal and financial perspective?
Rapid7 Insight products are covered by the same Terms of Service. If you are already a customer of another Insight product, you don’t have to sign the Terms of Service again.
If this migration is your first Insight product, you are required to accept the Terms of Service as the contractual terms governing their use of and access to the Insight Platform. These terms represent the move to a cloud-based offering and subscription licensing. This may have implications for your internal budgeting process (i.e., whether you use CAPEX or OPEX).
What does the migration process look like?
Rapid7 will provide you with an InsightAppSec account. In AppSpider, export the scan configs to a .zip file. Rapid7 will then migrate your scan configs to InsightAppSec where they become apps.
After migration is complete, in each scan config, select your attack template so that you can resume scanning and protecting your applications.
For more information, see the Migration Quick Start Guide.
Can I migrate custom attacks from AppSpider Pro to InsightAppSec?
No, you cannot migrate custom attacks from AppSpider Pro.
I have more questions. Who can I follow up with?
